NOTICE OF VACANCY ON CITY COUNCIL Beginning July 23, 2015, there will be a vacancy on the Bluffdale City Council. The vacancy is created due to the resignation of Councilmember Heather Pehrson. Individuals interested in serving the remainder of Councilmember Pehrson's unexpired term should submit their names to Wendy Deppe, City Recorder, during regular business hours. The term will last until the winning candidates from the 2015 Municipal Election are sworn in, typically the first work day after January 1, 2016. The City Council will hold a meeting to select the person to fill the vacancy on August 26, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., at the Fire Station located at 14350 South 2200 West, Bluffdale, Utah. The deadline to submit your name for consideration is Wednesday, August 19, 2015, 5:00 p.m., Mountain Time. Applicants are required to attend this meeting. Applicants must meet the requirements of candidates set forth in Utah law. These include the following: - Be a registered voter in the City of Bluffdale. UCA § 10-3-301(3). - Have resided within the City of Bluffdale for 12 consecutive months. UCA § 20A-9-203(1)(a)(i)(B)(I). - In accordance with Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, be not mentally incompetent, convicted of a felony, or convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise. UCA § 10A-9-203(1)(c). - Agree to maintain residency within the boundaries of the City during the term of office. UCA § 10-3-301(4). - Agree to not be absent from the City for a continuous period of more than 60 days without the consent of the City Council. UCA § 10-3-301(5).
