SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Lt. Governor Greg Bell has appointed Paul Neuenschwander to serve as his chief of staff.

As chief of staff, Mr. Neuenschwander will be responsible to oversee the daily operations of the Lieutenant Governor's Office. The office is responsible for document authentications, election administration, commissioning notaries public and licensing lobbyists in the State of Utah. He will serve as the Lieutenant Governor's spokesperson.

"Paul is highly qualified for this important position," the Lieutenant Governor said in announcing the appointment. "He has a long history of dedicated public service, and will serve the people of the State of Utah well."

Mr. Neuenschwander retired from a lengthy career in the mortgage banking industry in 2006 and successfully ran for the Utah State House of Representatives in 2006. He served as a Representative of District 20, which serves Bountiful, North Salt Lake and Salt Lake, during the 2007 and 2008 legislative sessions.

He has served on a number of boards, including the U.S. League of Savings Institutions, Utah Bankers Association, The Road Home, and Weber State University's Alumni Board. He is a past president of the board of trustees for the Utah Mortgage Bankers Association and the Utah League of Insured Savings Institutions, has been an adjunct professor of economics at Weber State University and is a volunteer for the Salt Lake Youth Detention Center.

Mr. Neuenschwander holds a bachelor's degree from Weber State University and an MBA from the University of Utah.
