| In
the information age, education is economic fuel. Utah learned this
during the 1990s when by doubling the investment in education and
increasing the number of adults with college degrees the state sustained
its longest sustained economic expansion. Indeed, the relationship
between a successful education system and strong economy has never
been more certain than it is today.
Governor Leavitt's
leadership is transforming Utah's education system to be tech-smart,
competency measured and market fast. These reforms and investment
in education form the keystone to the state's economic development
policy.
By increasing
the knowledge and improving the skills of Utah's rapidly growing
workforce Utah will retain and attract quality jobs and remain
prosperous over the long term.
