SALT LAKE CITY (Oct. 20, 2016) - In recognition of the second Utah Youth Justice Awareness Month, the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice (UBJJ) will highlight Utah?s dedication to youth within the juvenile justice system.

SALT LAKE CITY (Oct. 19, 2016) - On Tuesday, state leaders announced that budget forecasters accurately projected the State of Utah's 2016 revenue collections. Utah ended Fiscal Year 2016 with $18.7 million unspent. $13.7 million of that amount is automatically deposited into various state funds, such as the rainy day fund. Following the deposit available budget reserves were $519 million - the highest amount in history - plus an additional $23 million in reserves for natural disasters.

SALT LAKE CITY - The 4th District Judicial Nominating Commission has selected nominees for three vacancies on the 4th District Court. These vacancies result from the retirements of Judge Fred Howard, effective Dec. 1, 2016, Judge Claudia Laycock, January 1, 2017, and the confirmation of Judge David Mortensen to the Utah Court of Appeals, June 15, 2016. The 4th Judicial District includes Juab, Millard, Utah, and Wasatch counties.

SALT LAKE CITY - The 2nd District Judicial Nominating Commission has selected nominees for a vacancy on the 2nd District Juvenile Court. The vacancy results from the retirement of Judge J. Mark Andrus, effective Dec. 1, 2016. The 2nd Judicial District includes Davis, Morgan, and Weber counties.

SALT LAKE CITY (Aug. 26, 2016) - Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed Daniel Hemmert to the Utah Senate. Hemmert will serve in District 14 following the resignation of Sen. Alvin Jackson on July 1.

SALT LAKE CITY (August 19, 2016) - After five years as the executive director of the Utah Department of Heritage and Arts, Julie Fisher will step down at the end of August to accept a management position at a global consulting firm. Prior to her service with Heritage and Arts, Fisher served four terms in the Utah House of Representatives.

SALT LAKE CITY (July 27, 2016) - Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed Douglas Nielsen as a judge on the 4th District Juvenile Court.
