Salt Lake City, UT - The Appellate Nominating Commission has scheduled a meeting for September 9, 2013 at noon to review applications of individuals interested in filling the judicial vacancy on the Utah Court of Appeals resulting from the pending retirement of Judge William A. Thorne, Jr. The Commission will meet in suite 330 of the Senate Building on Capitol Hill in Salt Lake City.

The early portion of the meeting is scheduled for public comment about issues concerning the nominating process and issues facing the Utah judiciary. The nominating commission will not accept comments regarding individual applicants.

Following the public hearing, the meeting will be closed to allow the nominating commission to select candidates for interviews. At a later date, the nominating commission will select nominees whose names will be forwarded to Governor Herbert for his consideration.
