Governor Recovering from Skin Cancer Treatment
Jul. 18, 2013
SALT LAKE CITY - Following a recent diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma, Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert had a minor out-patient surgical treatment yesterday and is now recovering at home. The procedure went as planned and the Governor's prognosis is for a complete recovery. The Governor will continue to fully operate in his official capacity with minor modifications to his public appearance calendar.
Basal cell carcinomas are abnormal, uncontrolled growths or lesions that arise in the skin's basal cells, which line the deepest layer of the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin). This is the most common form of skin cancer in the United States.
