Salt Lake City, Utah - Gov. Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. and First Lady Mary Kaye Huntsman will celebrate with Utah's adoptive families Saturday at a winter carnival and awards reception honoring LDS Family Services and Commissioner Fred Riley.
The event is presented by the National Council for Adoption and the National Safe Haven Alliance and will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Salt Palace Convention Center's Grand Ballroom.
"The adoption of our daughter Gracie Mei has had a tremendous influence in our lives," the Governor said, whose 6-year-old daughter is from China. "I'm grateful so many children have found homes with parents and families in Utah."
The Governor and First Lady will present awards to LDSFS beginning at 4 p.m. Both are being given the Adoption Hall of Fame Award by the National Council for Adoption.
"LDS Family Services is a wonderful organization that epitomizes our state's emphasis on families," Gov. Huntsman said. "As commissioner, Fred Riley has played an essential role in LDSFS's success'."
