Breakfast & luncheon plenary sessions to include Governor, Utah's federal delegation, other dignitaries

Salt Lake City, UTAH - The Office of Energy Development, host of the Governor's Energy Development Summit, is pleased to announce the keynote speakers and panelists confirmed to join Governor Gary R. Herbert and an expected 1,200+ Summit attendees at the Salt Palace Convention Center on January 10, 2013.

Ronald W. Jibson, Chief Executive Officer of Questar and Chair of the American Gas Association (AGA), will offer opening remarks during the Breakfast Plenary.  In Mr. Jibson's capacity as Chair of the AGA, he represents over 200 local natural gas companies - including Questar Gas - that deliver clean natural gas to over 65 million households and businesses throughout the United States.

Following Mr. Jibson, James D. Ogsbury, the newly appointed Executive Director of the Western Governors Association, will deliver a welcoming address entitled "Shades of Energy: the West Leading America into Electrifying New Territory."  We are excited to welcome these notable regional leaders, who we believe will set the tone for the two day event.

During the Luncheon Plenary attendees will be joined by Utah Senators Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee, and by Utah Representatives Jim Matheson (4th District), Rob Bishop (1st District), and Chris Stewart (2nd District).  These esteemed members of Utah's federal delegation will answer a variety of questions relating to energy's place in Utah's economy, the value of energy independence, the environmental impacts associated with energy development, and other issues critical to the energy sector in the Intermountain West.

Interested parties are encouraged to submit relevant questions to energysummit@utah.gov, and the Office of Energy Development will select from among those submitted to help guide either the discussion with Utah's Congressional delegates or the most appropriate breakout session.

With the help of this impressive slate of keynote speakers, the Governor's Energy Development Summit will continue to be the critical energy forum in the Intermountain West.  The Summit will be an opportunity not only to examine key issues in the ever-changing energy sector, but to better understand the significant value energy adds to Utah's world-class economy.  This conversation will help position Utah for an exciting energy future that embraces a diversity of resources, and proceeds with a dual focus on responsible practices and economic growth.

The Governor's Energy Development Summit will take place both on Thursday, January 10 and Friday, January 11.  Those interested in attending are encouraged to visit energy.utah.gov to register for either or both days.
