SALT LAKE CITY - Today State Budget Director Ron Bigelow announced he will retire in January. "The State of Utah and its citizens have benefited greatly from Ron's service and financial expertise, both as a long-time legislator and as the State Budget Director for the past two years," said the Governor. "Ron has an incomparable commitment to fiscal prudence and principle."

Bigelow said, "It has been an honor and privilege to work for the people of the state of Utah.  I also appreciate the kindness and support of the people in the state agencies and departments as we worked together on the state budget."

Bigelow plans to devote more time to family, community, and church service. A retirement reception honoring Ron is being planned for sometime in January.

The Governor's Office of Planning and Budget continues to move forward the Governor's plans to transition to the Governor's Office of Management and Budget (GOMB) with a renewed emphasis on operational excellence.
