Salt Lake City - Governor Jon Huntsman announced he will deliver the Utah State of the State Address at the Salt Lake Air Base, home to the Utah Air National Guard.
"We will honor the men and women of Utah who protect our freedoms by holding the State of the State address on sacred ground, where our Guard troops leave their families and where they return to them," Governor Huntsman said. "As the last traveling address before we return to the Capitol, it is only appropriate to thank those who make our freedom possible."
While the Capitol is under construction, the State of the State has been held in different locations including Fillmore, Utah's first territorial capitol, and Washington Elementary School in Bountiful. The State of the State will return to the Capitol for the 2008 Legislative Session.
Less than 5 miles west of the Utah State Capitol, the Utah Air National Guard Base will host the Jan. 16 evening address. Guests will include the state's 104 legislators.
More details will follow as planned.
