WHAT: Governor Gary R. Herbert’s will issue an official declaration, declaring September 29, 2012 as Hunger Action Day in Utah, the Governor and his staff will volunteer at Utah Food Bank.

2:00 – 2:15 p.m. Governor will declare Saturday Hunger Action Day in Utah

VISUALS: The Governor and Lt. Governor will be available for media interviews as they volunteer and work at the Utah Food Bank sorting food.

• Friday’s staff volunteer effort is timed to alert Utahns of the Utah Food Bank’s heightened need and the fourth annual Hunger Action Month Food Drive being held statewide Saturday, September 29 at Walmart stores statewide.
• Governor Herbert recently selected the Utah Food Bank as recipient of a $10,000 Zions Bank contribution which was awarded at the Governor’s Cup charity golf event.
• The Governor encourages all Utah media outlets to highlight the significant need at the Utah Food Bank and Saturday’s Hunger Action Day food drive.
• 472,000 Utahns are at risk of missing one or more meals a day, and 1 in 8 Utah children lives in poverty.
