Salt Lake City, Utah - Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., has named Christine Kearl as his new Deputy for Public Education. "Chris has extensive experience in public education in Utah," said Governor Huntsman. "She will be able to immediately work with all groups and issues involved with education matters. We are grateful that she is willing to serve in this important role."
Kearl is leaving her position as the Deputy State Superintendent for the Utah State Office of Education. "I am passionate about ensuring quality education for the children of our state, and I am truly honored to be asked to participate in the Governor's initiatives on education."
Kearl is currently completing her Doctorate of Education at Utah State University. She has received a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree in secondary education, both from Utah State University.
She replaces Tim Bridgewater who has voluntarily served in the position since January. "I am pleased to be turning over the reins to Chris who brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to the position," said Bridgewater.
Kearl will be transitioning into the position over the next several weeks.
