Camp Williams, Utah - A total of 44 Hurricane Katrina guests were hired today at a job fair held by the Department of Workforce Services.


From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. 22 businesses from around the State of Utah discussed potential job opportunities with hurricane evacuees. Eighty-five people registered for jobs, and the outcomes are as follows:


- 44 people were hired by employers at the job fair
- Up to 3 are expected to be hired tomorrow
- 19 have second interviews tomorrow


"The response to the job fair was overwhelmingly positive for job seekers and employers," said Tani Pack Downing, Executive Director of Workforce Services. "Whenever someone was hired, the place erupted in applause and cheers."
