Governor's Office Convenes State Leaders for Flood Review and Forecast
Dec. 01, 2011
WHAT: On behalf of Governor Gary R. Herbert, Lt. Governor Greg Bell will meet with state and local officials to review last spring's floods, as well as a forecast for the 2011/2012 flood season, to insure the State is as prepared as possible to handle any potential flooding.
WHO: Lt. Governor Greg Bell, state agency officials, county representatives and Governor's Office staff
WHERE: Capitol Board Room, State Capitol
WHEN: Thursday, December 1, 2:00-3:30 p.m.
BACKGROUND: Last June Governor Herbert issued an executive order declaring a "State of Emergency" in Utah when springtime flooding reached its apex. The Governor's declaration opened the door for state resources to be deployed to local communities affected by the disaster. At the time, the Governor said, "We are extremely proud of how well our local responders and volunteers are performing in response to the flooding. They've done a yeoman's job in preparing for and handling high water levels." Those same responders are now putting plans in place to be ready for what comes next spring.
Note: The Lt. Governor will be available for comment on today's high winds in Davis County. He is a Davis County resident.
