Hurricane Evacuees May Arrive in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY*Two National Guard KC 135 aircraft will leave the Utah Air National Guard Base today for New Orleans, one at 11 a.m. and the other at 2 p.m. to bring back possible hurricane evacuees.

The first aircraft won't arrive back in Salt Lake City before 6 p.m. The second aircraft won't return prior to 9 p.m. Each plane can carry up to 50 evacuees.

Evacuees will be moved to a temporary screening area where they will receive food and water when they arrive. They will travel to temporary housing at Camp Williams and Dugway Proving Ground.
