Governor to Announce New Veterans Employment Opportunity Project

WHAT: Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert will announce a new initiative, "The Military to Civilian Crosswalk for Accelerated Employment Opportunities Project." This project will allow Utah military veterans and Utah National Guard members to match their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) with civilian occupational codes, allowing veterans to count their service experience toward a specialized license or educational requirement and re-enter the job market.

BACKGROUND: This project is intended to provide an accelerated avenue for veterans to gain employment in the civilian job market by capitalizing on past experiences, training, and knowledge in their former MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) and matching those skills for certification with civilian occupational codes to obtain credentials and licensed employment opportunities.
