WHAT: A news conference to promote Fire Season Safety Awareness

WHEN: Thursday, June 30, 2005 10:00 a.m.

WHERE: Avenues side of City Creek Canyon Road, approximately 11th Avenue

WHY: This weekend is the kick off to the patriotic holiday season, which is traditionally celebrated with fireworks; these may pose a hazard if handled improperly.

"We cannot be lulled into complacency because we've had such a wet winter and spring," says Governor Huntsman. "On the contrary, we need more diligence than usual with fire safety. Increased precipitation has caused the vegetation to flourish, increasing the fire danger."
