Governor Huntsman Extends Condolences

Salt Lake City, Utah - Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., has expressed his condolences to the family of Sgt. Brandon Thomas. The 27-year old Utah man was killed in Iraq when his convoy was struck by an improvised explosive device. Sgt. Thomas was working for a private contractor, providing security for dignitaries at the time of his death. He was also a member of the B-Company, First Battalion of the 19th Special Forces Group of the Utah National Guard from Camp Williams.

"We are deeply saddened by the death of Sgt. Thomas," said Governor Huntsman. "It makes no difference whether he was deployed to Iraq as a soldier or as a civilian. We have lost a soldier who was there is support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and he will be offered buried with full military honors."
