Flood Assessments Planned in Three Areas of Utah

The Governor and members of his staff will travel to various areas of the state that have been affected or are anticipated to be impacted by floods and high spring runoff. The following represents three separate itineraries; however all travel will take place on Monday, May 2, 2005.

"Unfortunately, our fears about the flood season appear to be taking shape," said Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. "I felt it was important to send personnel throughout the state to get an assessment of as many of the flood-troubled areas as possible. That will help with our responses in the coming weeks. We will continue to monitor all areas as closely as possible."

Northern Utah Itinerary

Who:
  • Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr.
  • Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety Verdi White
What: Meeting with local officials and emergency management personnel to assess the flood damage, the potential for additional damage and mitigation efforts

When: Times approximate:
  • 10:00 am Box Elder County Old County Courthouse, Brigham City
  • 11:30 am Cache County Cache County Building, Multi-purpose room, Logan City
  • 1:30 pm Weber County Weber Center, 2380 Washington Blvd., Ogden City
Central and Eastern Utah Itinerary

Who:
  • Lt. Governor Gary Herbert
  • State Emergency Services Deputy Director Brian Garrett
What: Meeting with local officials and emergency management personnel to assess the flood damage, the potential for additional damage and mitigation efforts

When: Times approximate:
  • 10:30 am Duchesne/Uintah County Roosevelt City Hall, 255 S. State Street
Aerial tours will be conducted over the Upper Provo River, Weber River, Lake Creek and Duchesne River

Southern Utah Itinerary

Who:
  • Public Safety Commissioner Bob Flowers
  • Chief of Staff Jason Chaffetz
What: Meeting with local officials and emergency management personnel to assess the flood damage, the potential for additional damage and mitigation efforts

When: Times approximate:
  • 9:30 am Washington County County Complex Building
  • 1:00 pm Iron County New Justice Center, 82 North 1st East
  • 3:30 pm Garfield County Location TBD
