WHO: Governor Gary R. Herbert, Members of the Utah Advisory Commission to Optimize State Government
WHAT: Commission members will present Governor Herbert with its report - the result of a nearly yearlong effort to identify areas for increased efficiency within State government.
Governor Herbert launched the Utah Advisory Commission to Optimize State Government in September 2009, appointing former Utah Governor Norm Bangerter to serve as chairman. Governor Herbert tasked the group with taking a "broad-based, independent look at current governmental processes and spending." The creation of the Advisory Commission was Governor Herbert's first step to fulfill his promise, as stated in his inaugural address, to "lead the charge for government efficiencies in all that we are tasked to do."
