Governor Herbert Appoints Handy to Utah House of Representatives

SALT LAKE CITY - Governor Gary R. Herbert has appointed Stephen G. Handy to fill a vacant seat in the Utah House of Representatives, House District 16.
Mr. Handy is a Marketing Communications and Public Relations Consultant residing in Layton, Utah, and holds both a B.A. in English and a M.S. in Human Resources Management from the University of Utah.
"Stephen has many years of distinguished public service experience under his belt. I am confident in his ability to serve and represent the people of House District 16, and the people of the State of Utah, with honor," Governor Herbert said.
Mr. Handy presently serves as chairman of the Davis County Tax Advisory Board, a board member of the American Red Cross of Northern Utah, and is a member of the United Way Davis County Leadership Council and the Layton High School Community Council.
He has formerly served as a member of the Layton City Council and president of the Davis (Layton) Arts Council, as well as many other boards and commissions.
Mr. Handy will fill the vacant seat created by the March 2010 resignation of Representative Kevin Garn.
