April 14, 2005
Salt Lake City, Utah - Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., issued the proclamation for the call of a special session of the Utah Legislature for April 19-20, 2005 . There are 15 bills that Utah lawmakers will consider when they convene at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2005. "Originally, the call for the special session was made to address Utah's concerns about the federal No Child Left Behind law," said Governor Huntsman. "However since that time, there were several other issues that needed attention before the general session next January." Among those are bills that address a veteran's nursing home, a drug abusers treatment plan, a transportation funding plan, and funding for convention facilities. "There are several bills that need minimal clarification. There are other bills that were on their way to passage during the general session of the legislature, however failed due to a lack of time. Those bills deserve attention now," said Governor Huntsman.
