WHO: Governor Gary R. Herbert, along with the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Utah Trucking Association

WHAT: Governor Herbert will announce the Utah Clean Diesel Trucking Initiative, in which nearly $600,000 in federal and state grants will be spent to help 15 trucking businesses install anti-idling devices in long-haul trucks. These devices, Auxiliary Power Units (APU), are intended to reduce fuel consumption and prevent the release of harmful air emissions. The funding is made possible with a matching grant from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Diesel Grant and DEQ’s Division of Air Quality.

WHEN: Tuesday, April 6, 2010 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: The west side of the visitor parking lot in front of the new Multi Agency State Office Building, which houses both the Department of Environmental Quality and Department of Human Services, located at 195 N. 1950 West. (In the event of inclement weather, the news conference will be held in the common area inside the entrance of the building).
