SALT LAKE CITY - Governor Gary R. Herbert is encouraging Utahns to participate in "Earth Hour" tomorrow from 8:30-9:30 p.m.

The Governor will join other Utah cities and counties, along with 23 other states, by turning off non-essential lighting at the Utah Capitol Complex and the Governor's Mansion for one hour.

"I challenge all Utahns to support Earth Hour 2010 by turning off their home and business lights for just one hour" Governor Herbert said. "It's an easy way to support this worthwhile initiative and promote energy conservation in our State."

Nearly 1 billion people - including an estimated 80 million in the United States - participated in Earth Hour 2009, including more than 4,100 cities in 87 countries on all seven continents.
