SALT LAKE CITY - Governor Gary R. Herbert has made appointments to fill the vacant seat on the state's Transportation Commission, as well as to serve as the Commission's new chairman.

The Governor selected former Davis County Commissioner Dannie McConkie to fill the vacancy left by Stuart Adams' resignation to serve in the Utah Senate. At the time of his departure, Sen. Adams served as the Commission's chairman. That position has now been filled by Commission member Jeffrey Holt.

The Utah Transportation Commission is an independent advisory committee that prioritizes road projects and decides how funds are spent.

In addition to his nearly 30 yeas at the Utah Department of Transportation, Mr. McConkie has been involved with the National Association of Counties, and various state and county boards
and associations.

Mr. Holt was appointed to the Transportation Commission in June 2009. He has a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Utah and has worked as an investment banker for the past 30 years.

The Governor's appointment is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate.
