Utah State Senate to Vote Sept. 1 on Lieutenant Governor Pick

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Governor Gary R. Herbert has called the Utah State Senate into an extraordinary session to consent to the appointment of Senator Greg Bell as the next Lieutenant Governor of Utah.
Earlier today, Governor Herbert signed a proclamation asking the full Senate to meet Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. for the vote. If confirmed, Senator Bell is expected to take the oath of office that day in a ceremony in the Gold Room of the Utah State Capitol.
Senator Bell currently serves as the Assistant Majority Whip in the Utah State Legislature and as Senator to District 22 in Davis County. He has served on various legislative committees, including Higher Education and Executive Appropriations, Senate Health and Human Services, and Senate Government Operations and Political Subdivisions.
Senator Bell intends to resign his Senate seat upon confirmation from the Senate.
