Governor Nominates Third District Judge

Salt Lake City, Utah - Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. has nominated Mark S. Kouris of Salt Lake City, Utah, to serve as a judge on the Utah Third District Court. His nomination must now be confirmed by the Utah Senate. Kouris will replace retiring Judge Pat Brian.

"Mark has the right combination of qualities that will make him a great judge," said Governor Huntsman. "He is smart, dedicated, capable, and experienced in the practice of law."

Kouris is currently serving as an Assistant Federal Defender at the Utah Federal Defender's Office in Salt Lake City. Previously, Kouris was employed as a Deputy District Attorney in the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office. He is a graduate of the University of Utah College of Law.

"It is an honor to have been chosen by the Governor to serve as a Third District Court judge," Kouris said Tuesday
