Commissioner Scott T. Duncan
"Served as a member of the Utah Highway Patrol for over 26 years--field trooper; port-of-entry and field sergeant; commercial vehicle and field lieutenant; captain with various assignments (commercial vehicles, safety inspection, training, executive protection, capitol security, hazardous materials, and criminal investigations). Also, spent two years as the Director of the Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division at the Utah State Tax Commission just prior to being appointed as superintendent of the Utah Highway Patrol in January 2001.
Associate Degree in Police Science and Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Southern Utah University. Masters Degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University. Graduate of the FBI National Academy--Session #182. Adjunct professor at Columbia College teaching courses in management, criminal justice, and ethics.
Hobbies are camping, fishing, hunting, reading and running (ran the St. George Marathon twice)."
Appointed to the position of Commissioner of Department of Public Safety in August 2006.
