Lisa-Michele Church , Executive Director of Human Services
Lisa-Michele Church is a corporate attorney and community activist. She is a graduate of the University of Utah (B.S., 1981) and
the University of Utah College of Law (J.D., 1984). Ms. Church has spent the majority of her legal career at Sinclair Oil
Corporation, where she served as Vice President and General Counsel. In that capacity, she managed three corporate departments
and supervised legal matters in 22 states. At Sinclair she had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of issues, from
environmental regulation and employment discrimination to property acquisition and contract negotiation. Ms. Church also was
instrumental in important initiatives such as creating and administering an in-house health benefits department, negotiating
complex venue agreements with the Olympic Committee, establishing EEOC training programs and building the Grand America Hotel
and the Snowbasin Ski Resort. Since 1999, she has engaged in a private legal practice.
Ms. Church has also served in the Utah State Industrial Commission as an Administrative Law Judge (1990-1993), the U.S. Department
of Interior Regional Solicitor???s Office as a law clerk (1982-1984) and worked for U.S. Senator Jake Garn (R-Utah) (1978-1981.)
While active in community affairs, she has volunteered for many community organizations, including Women Lawyers of Utah, the
Judicial Nominating Commission, the Dixie College Board of Trustees, the Utah State Bar Commission (ex officio) and numerous
special projects and task forces. She is also active in her church. Her interests include history, scrap-booking, gardening
and literature. She is married to David L. Church, attorney at law, and they have two sons.
