What Do I Do If I've Been Discriminated Against on the Job?
What is Employment Discrimination?
Employment discrimination is when an employer takes action against an employee because of an employee's race, color, sex, national origin, disability, age (over 40), or religion.
Many times an employee may feel that he or she has been treated unfairly by an employer. Personality conflicts, disagreements over management style, or even favoritism towards an employer's friend or family member are all examples of unfair treatment, but it may not necessarily be unlawful. Illegal discrimination occurs when an employee is singled out and treated differently from other employees because of race, color, sex, national origin, religion, disability, age (over 40), or religion.
