WHAT: Lt. Governor Bell will announce the beginning of Be Ready Utah week (Sep. 14-20) and encourage Utahns to start with simple steps in preparing for emergencies.

WHY: Many families in Utah have experienced emergencies and disasters in recent months with flooding, wildfires, power outages and severe weather. These unfortunate events often happen suddenly so it’s important to plan before the next emergency or disaster happens.

Be Ready Utah week focuses on helping Utahns make small preparations for emergencies such as a communication plan and an emergency supply kit. Be Ready Utah also provides valuable information about Utah’s various natural hazards and how to become involved in a community emergency response team.

Be Ready Utah week is part of a national effort during September to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies and disasters.
